Attending the CGA x UKRAINIUM Concert over the weekend was an incredible experience that brought me closer to my school community. As an audience member, I had the opportunity to meet up with friends and classmates, but also meet so many new people. A global network of students creating positive change

On June 23, 2023, a wave of unity, passion, and camaraderie swept through Auckland, primarily spearheaded by Crimson Global Academy (CGA) and UKRAINIUM. Together, they hosted "Rockin' Relief”, a charity concert conceived from the altruistic initiative of CGA's students. The event aimed to aid Ukrainian children impacted by the ongoing conflict, transforming from a nascent idea into a powerful expression of solidarity that deeply resonated with all involved.

The day's momentum began building at the home of Jasmine Wei, a CGA student who also co-founded UKRAINIUM. Jasmine and her co-organizer, Siena, both CGA students, were immersed in a flurry of preparations for the concert. The intensity of their mission breathed life into their environment, where setlists were fine-tuned, banners were painted, and concert t-shirts were systematically stacked for sale.

Somehow I wasn't scared to perform on stage for the first time, despite my complete lack of stage experience. It went pretty well, Siena and I practiced in the hotel… probably paid off a little, as we’ve never practiced in person before. All in all, it was an amazing experience. I met so many cool people, and despite any issue, I wouldn’t trade the experience for the world. - Seven, CGA Student

Their next stop was The Underground at St Kevin's Arcade, the venue for their concert. The location buzzed with activity as students fine-tuned their instruments, conducted sound checks, and engaged in final rehearsals. This flurry of preparations was a testament to the participants' shared anticipation and the earnest efforts put in by all.

During a brief interlude, the CGA team organized a pizza run for the performers, providing a moment of laughter and camaraderie amidst the concert preparations. Despite a minor technical hiccup while attempting to live stream the concert, the spirits of those involved remained undeterred, and the show proceeded, underpinned by the enthusiastic support of the audience and the vivacity of the performers.

The evening was punctuated by a series of captivating performances. An array of student artists and musicians, each with their unique flair, took the stage. The ensuing energy was infectious, evoking robust applause and cheers from the audience, contributing to an unforgettable night.

Although the night concluded, the sense of accomplishment and unity persisted. underscoring the successful collaborative effort put forth.

The gig was super fun and a really cool way to connect with people who we hadn’t previously seen in person. It was great to see everyone there. I found it really easy to connect with people as everyone there shared a love for music. - Dora, CGA Student

Overall, the Rockin' Relief event encapsulated the power of unity and the impact that can be achieved when a community rallies together for a shared cause. Harnessing the talents and passion of the students and leveraging the supportive environment cultivated by CGA and UKRAINIUM, the event succeeded in raising substantial funds and awareness. As the curtain fell on the evening, thoughts turned to the Ukrainian children whose lives had been disrupted by conflict, with hopes that the funds raised could help improve their educational opportunities.

The event served as a reminder of the powerful, positive change that can be brought about when individuals come together, promising more such communal efforts in the future.
