Dr. Hoshi is originally from Japan and did his B.A. in Philosophy at the University of Tokyo. He then came to do graduate studies in the United States where he received a MA in Philosophy at Texas A&M and Ph.D. in Philosophy at Stanford University.


After publishing papers in the relevant fields, including logic, computer science, and mathematics and taught logic and philosophy courses for undergraduate students at Stanford, he joined Stanford Online High School for its beginning phase.


Founded in 2006, Stanford Online High School is an independent school located at Stanford University for intellectually passionate students in grades 7–12. Founded as a three-year high school it was subsequently expanded to include grades 7–9. With Dr. Hoshi at its helm, the school is now being ranked #1 for best college preparatory high school and #7 in best private high school in the USA.
