At Crimson Global Academy (CGA), online schooling doesn't mean learning in isolation. Throughout April and May, the CGA community proved that real connection spans across time zones. From hybrid graduation ceremonies and hands-on science labs to local student meetups, our global network came together to celebrate academic milestones, foster student leadership, and build lifelong friendships beyond the screen.
Here is a round-up of how our global school community thrived this spring.
Celebrating 6 Years of Global Community
One of the most significant milestones was CGA's sixth anniversary last April. Over the past six years, our school has grown into a truly global learning community, bringing together students, families and educators from around the world.
To mark the occasion, community members contributed nearly 200 messages to a digital "spark" map, representing more than 70 countries. A series of anniversary videos showcased the diversity and unity of the CGA community, featuring messages from students, staff and families across multiple campuses.
The celebrations highlighted what makes CGA special: a shared commitment to learning, connection and supporting one another, regardless of where in the world we live.
Adding to the celebration, students and staff participated in the 6th Anniversary T-Shirt Design Competition, themed "The World is Our Campus: Beyond Borders". The winning designs captured the creativity, diversity and collaborative spirit that define the CGA experience and demonstrated how members of our community express their connection to the school in meaningful ways.
Marking Important Milestones
May was also a time of celebration for students across CGA.
The Greenwich Campus Class of 2026 gathered virtually for a student-led graduation ceremony filled with artistic presentations, musical performances and reflections on their learning journeys. Students shared memories and experiences that highlighted the friendships, achievements and personal growth they had developed during their time at CGA.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Diploma Pathway celebrated its first hybrid graduation ceremony, bringing together students, families and staff both in person at the Imagine Museum in Florida, USA, and online. Graduates joined from countries including Japan, Finland, Qatar and the United States, reflecting the truly international nature of the school community.
Throughout the ceremony, students spoke about the connections they had formed through online learning and student leadership opportunities. Their reflections served as a powerful reminder that meaningful relationships can flourish across continents when people come together with shared goals and experiences.
Earlier in May, the final U.S. Diploma Pathway assembly of the academic year was also held and provided another opportunity to celebrate community.
Students were recognised not only for academic excellence but also for leadership, teamwork, positive attitudes and contributions to school life. The event highlighted the many ways students support one another and help create a welcoming environment. Messages from student leaders encouraged their peers to continue embracing opportunities, building connections and taking ownership of their learning. These values remain central to the CGA experience and reflect the importance of community in student success.
Learning Through Shared Experiences
Community building often happens through learning together, and students had several opportunities to do just that during May.
Aoraki Campus students travelled to Newington College in Sydney on 1 May for a day of hands-on science practicals. Working alongside teachers and peers, students explored Physics, Biology and Chemistry through engaging experiments, including microscopy activities, flame tests and dissections. The experience encouraged collaboration while bringing classroom concepts to life.
Students also demonstrated leadership and diplomacy at the Harvard Model United Nations conference, held at the University of Technology Sydney from 21 to 24 May. Representing assigned countries, students debated global issues, negotiated resolutions and worked closely with delegates from other schools.
Through teamwork, public speaking and problem-solving, participants strengthened their confidence while building connections with fellow students who shared a passion for global affairs. Emily’s individual award was a proud achievement for both her and the wider CGA community.
Bringing Students Together Beyond the Screen
While CGA's online environment enables students to connect globally, in-person events continue to play an important role in strengthening the community.
In Tokyo, students gathered for the second Japan Board Game Day in Akihabara. Students from elementary through high school enjoyed games including Time Bomb, Jenga and Catan, creating opportunities to meet new people and strengthen friendships in a relaxed setting.
Similarly, a community meet-up in Shanghai brought together students, families and prospective students from across China. Through an escape room challenge, participants collaborated to solve problems and complete tasks, encouraging teamwork and communication. A shared lunch afterwards allowed students and parents to continue conversations, exchange experiences and build new connections.
A Community Without Borders: The Future of Online School Socialisation
Key Takeaway for Parents: What does socialisation look like at Crimson Global Academy? It looks like classmates meeting up in Tokyo, collaborating in Sydney science labs, and celebrating graduation both in Florida and online.
These spring activities continue to show that meaningful connections flourish across borders and time zones when given the right framework. At CGA, we are creating more than just an online educational experience; we are fostering a thriving, highly engaged global network. Whether through international milestones, academic leadership, or local meetups, our students graduate not only with world-class qualifications but with a global community of lifelong friends.
