Crimson Global Academy (CGA) is proud to announce a groundbreaking step forward in reimagining education: from 2025, CGA students will be able to take GCSE and A Level exams fully online through Pearson Remote Invigilation.
This makes CGA one of the first global schools to offer students the ability to sit their high-stakes qualifications in a secure, fully digital environment -without needing to travel to a physical test centre.
Pearson Remote Invigilation is a secure online exam platform that allows students to take assessments from their own home, with live monitoring to ensure the same academic integrity and rigor as traditional in-person exams.
Students use their own computer, under the supervision of trained invigilators, with multiple security layers including ID checks, camera monitoring, and AI-driven safeguards.
In short: students can now take exams online with the same credibility and recognition as paper-based exams.
In 2022 CGA joined a pilot programme for online exams run by Pearson, with a successful trial during the November 2024 IGCSE exams.
For AS and A2 Level exams, CGA delivered the world's first remote invigilation trial at the October/November 2024 exams.
CGA Deputy Principal Mr Ronan Kearney outlined the motivation for this innovation:
It was a lot of disruption for students that could also bring anxiety and ultimately affect exam results. This approach prepares students for the future because digital exams and professional certifications are moving on to a digital way of working.”
Mr Kearney also mentioned the feedback from Pearson regarding the trial:
CGA students were the best prepared and the most familiar with the system, and of course that reflects our learning mode and also the preparation of the exams team and the academic teams had done with the students beforehand.
From remote invigilation, to CGA Home’s AI features, CGA’s commitment to innovative learning technology ensures students are set-up for success.
At CGA, we’ve always embraced innovation to give students the best possible opportunities to succeed. Our students already learn in a fully online classroom, where they connect with peers and teachers globally. Extending this model to include remote exams is a natural next step.
The benefits are clear:
Aspect | Physical Exams (Test Centre) | Online Exams (Pearson Remote Invigilation) |
---|---|---|
Accessibility | Requires travel to a designated exam centre, which may be far from home | Students can take exams online from home, accessible globally |
Convenience | Fixed location, limited flexibility | No travel; familiar environment reduces stress and logistical burden |
Equity | Students in remote or rural areas face greater barriers | Same exam conditions for all, regardless of geography |
Environment | Often unfamiliar, may add stress | Taken in comfortable, familiar surroundings |
Cost & Time | Travel costs, time lost to commuting centres | Saves time and money with no need for transport |
Future-Readiness | Paper-based exams don't reflect modern digital assessment practices | Builds digital literacy and prepares students for online university and workplace environments |
Difference Between Traditional Physical Exams and Online Exams at CGA with Pearson Remote Invigilation
In our recent May/June 2025 Pearson A Level and GCSE exam results we shared how students thrived with remote invigilation in select subjects, achieving outstanding grades and gaining offers from top universities worldwide. With the Pearson partnership, we are now able to extend this benefit to even more students.
This is more than just a logistical improvement - it’s a paradigm shift in how exams are delivered. As a school with online exams, CGA is setting a new standard for flexible, globally accessible education.
While Advanced Placement (AP) Exams remain in-person due to College Board regulations, CGA continues to advocate for innovation across all qualifications, ensuring students are ready for university and future careers in an increasingly digital world.
For students and families considering CGA exams in 2025, this development underscores our commitment to innovation, accessibility, and academic excellence. Partnering with Pearson to pioneer remote exams demonstrates how CGA is not only preparing students for the future - but actively shaping it.
