Our Online Learning Programmes

The International GCSEs and A Levels are the most commonly studied curriculum around the world. They are based on the UK high school education system and are adapted for a global student base.

This pathway is fairly straightforward and starts in Year 11 or earlier with students sitting up to 6 International GCSE subjects. These subjects are structured as first introductions to the specific topic areas that they cover. In certain countries, students begin in Year 10 and sit 8-10 subjects over the course of two years.

In Year 12 students move on to the A Levels that are further broken down into two parts: the AS Level, called “Advanced Subsidiary”, (usually done in Year 12) and A2 Level (typically done in Year 13). Traditionally, students take 4-5 AS Level subjects and then go on to take 3-4 of those subjects at the A2 Level.

We offer four unique online pathways for secondary school qualifications that provide a seamless and continuous learning journey.

What is the Pre-International GCSE Programme?

The Pre-International GCSE is an online programme developed for 12-14 year olds that provides a knowledge base for the academically rigorous International GCSEs.

There are two stages in the programme with Stage 1 serving as a foundation for Stage 2. Students can enrol full time for Stage 2 by taking 5-6 subjects or enrol part-time for both stages by taking 1-2 subjects.

Pre-IG English

The aim of this course is to prepare students for the IGCSE Literature course, and beyond, to AS Literature and Language. Students gain experience with styles of language, language techniques, and grammar. Students practise formal and creative writing as well. Students will also focus on academic analysis of literature texts, and writing literary essays.

Pre-IG Science

This course is ideal for students to get a 'taster' of each of the three disciplines (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) and to help them choose which subject(s) to do for their International GCSE. The skills learned here are applicable to all subjects and will be carried through right up to the International A Levels. There are no formal exams for this course - only school internals, tests and assignments.

Pre-IG Math

The aim of this course is to prepare students for the IGCSE Math course, and beyond, to AS and A2 Level Math courses. Students will gain experience with the type of subject material they will be taught in later years and become familiar with the concepts and exam styles.

Pre-IG Computer Science

The purpose of this course is to give students an introduction into the world of computer science and coding. At CGA students can pursue an in-depth path into computer studies by combining their International GCSE and A Level courses with summer offerings and extracurricular clubs in the field.

What are International GCSEs?

Students usually begin the International GCSE curriculum in Year 10 or 11 by sitting 4-5 subjects. These subjects are structured as first introductions to the specific topic areas that they cover. External exams at the end of the course determine students' grades.

What are International A Levels?

The A-Level curriculum is the #1 studied curriculum in the world, and in many countries high grades in A-Levels can result in university course credit. The syllabus prepares students aged 15-17 for university. Edexcel International A Level is typically a two-year course - divided into the AS and A2 levels. Some subjects can be started as an AS Level and extended to A2 Level.
