Purpose

The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”), places obligations on website or online service operators aimed at children under 13 years of age. It also applies to operators of other online services who are aware that they are collecting personal information from children under 13 years of age.

This COPPA Policy ensures that CGA (including its subsidiaries) meet its obligations under COPPA. This Policy only applies to users under the age of 13 and should be read in conjunction with our Privacy Policy.

Information Collected

We respect the privacy of children, and do not collect any more personal information than reasonably necessary to enable them to participate in the services we offer at our Websites.

With respect to our online information collection practices from children under 13 years of age, we collect the following types of personal information about children, whether from children directly, from their guardians, or passively:

  1. First name and last name
  2. Contact details, including (but not limited to) email address and phone number 
  3. Information relating to education, academics, testing, activities, awards, personal development, and intended majors & careers
  4. Demographic information 
  5. Identifiers such as information held in a cookie or passively

Cookies:

  1. A cookie is a small amount of data, which often includes an anonymous unique identifier, that is sent to your browser from a web site’s computers and stored on your computer’s hard drive.
  2. Cookies are required to use the Websites.
  3. We use cookies to record current session information, but do not use permanent cookies. You are required to log-in to your account again after a certain period of inactivity time has elapsed to protect you against others accidentally accessing your account contents.

Use and Sharing of Information

The information we collect from children is used:

  1. For record keeping
  2. To enable them to participate in certain functions of our Websites, such as use of chat and messaging functions between other students
  3. As necessary to perform services

We do not have any agreements with outside organisations to collect personal information at our site, and we do not share children’s personal information with anyone other than those who provide support for the internal operations of the Website and our agents (e.g., contractors who provide fulfillment services or technical support to the Website). All third parties with whom we share information have agreed to maintain security and integrity of personal information, and have agreed not to use the personal information.

Parental Rights

A parent or guardian can review or have deleted their child’s personal information and refuse to permit its further collection or use. A parent or guardian should email mycga@cga.school to exercise these rights.

A parent or guardian can agree to the collection and use of their child’s personal information, but still not allow disclosure to third parties.
