Welcome to EMI

A primary online school, reimagined for modern families in New Zealand.

What is Emi?

Emi is a live, teacher-led New Zealand primary school designed for modern families.

Every class is led by a qualified primary teacher. Your child has one-to-one lessons early in the week and small live group classes at the end of it, so learning is shaped around where they are, not just how old they are.

Emi is powered by Crimson Global Academy.

Grow With Confidence
Globally Mobile Families

Whether you’re traveling, living abroad, or balancing elite athletic and performance schedules, your child keeps the same teachers and classmates wherever life takes you

Live Learning Together
Homeschooling Families

For families who value flexibility but may find full-time, parent-led homeschooling hard to sustain, we provide qualified teachers for core subjects. Emi takes the lesson planning and teaching off your plate while keeping you completely informed on your child's progress.

All-in-one Learning Platform
Families seeking true personalisation.

Because students are placed by ability rather than age, Emi offers a calm environment perfect for children looking to stretch ahead, slow down, or enjoy a smoother transition into primary school

How the Emi Week Works

Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday

Monday to Wednesday one-to-one sessions prepare your child for the Thursday and Friday group lessons, and every teacher works from the same lesson plan.

One-to-One Learning
  • Two 45-minute lessons a day with a teacher, about 1.5 hours
  • Two lessons each in English, Maths, and Innovation across the three days
  • Planned backwards from the week’s group goal, so your child is ready for Thursday

  • Lessons are timetabled for the year, between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

Why Join Emi?

Small Group Learning

Classes capped at 8, so every child is seen and heard, and nobody gets lost in the crowd.

One-to-One Every Week

Two 45-minute lessons in each subject from Monday to Wednesday, planned to prepare for the group days.

Room to Stretch

Teachers adjust work during each lesson, and mixed-year rooms give confident learners next year’s content. Students are grouped by ability rather than strictly by age.

AI That Helps

Winnie, the AI tutor, guides with questions, stays inside the lesson, and teachers see everything it’s asked.

Personalised Pathways

Every lesson has two tracks, and teachers place each child on the one that fits, lesson by lesson.

Social Learning

Children make friends across countries and build confidence through discussion and teamwork.

Three Core Subjects

Emi draws on the New Zealand, Australian, US, and UK standards, taking the most demanding version of each. Topics come back every year in more depth.

01 / 03

English

  • Understanding stories: character, setting, plot, and theme
  • Vocabulary, grammar, dialogue, and figurative language
  • Descriptive, narrative, informative, and opinion writing
  • Summarising, sequencing, and researching

Outcome: Children plan, write, and edit stories and reports with clear grammar and vocabulary.

Maths

  • Operations, place value, fractions, and decimals
  • Multi-step word problems and mental maths
  • Measurement, geometry, and data
  • Financial maths in NZ dollars, mainly metric units

Outcome: Children explain their thinking and apply maths to real-world problems.

Innovation

  • Science, geography, social studies, and computing in one subject
  • Living things, habitats, weather, energy, and matter
  • Hands-on experiments and virtual labs

Outcome: Children observe, experiment, and reach conclusions from evidence.
