Learning Support at CGA: What Parents Need to Know

At Crimson Global Academy (CGA), academic support is more than just a safety net. It’s a carefully designed system that helps every student thrive. From world-class teachers to tailored learning pathways and future-focused study strategies, CGA equips students with everything they need to succeed.

World-Class Teachers

At the heart of CGA is an outstanding teaching team. With more teacher applications than available roles, CGA is able to select subject specialists with proven records of excellence.

What truly sets CGA teachers apart is their focus. They aren’t bogged down by administrative tasks and recess duties - instead, they can concentrate solely on delivering exceptional lessons. As science teacher, Nick Salmon, puts it:

At CGA, I’m able to focus on planning and teaching really great science classes - nothing else.

Small Class Sizes

CGA classes are capped at 15 students, with most averaging just 8–12. This ensures highly interactive, discussion-driven lessons where students are seen and heard. With our camera-on policy, teachers build genuine connections with students.

As English teacher, Suzanne Stacey explains:

Joining an online school, I worried about building rapport with students. Four years in, I can honestly say I know my students better than I ever did in traditional schools.

Ability-Based Enrolment

CGA doesn’t lock students into year levels based on age. Instead, students are enrolled in subjects based on ability. This allows advanced learners to accelerate, while others can consolidate their knowledge at a lower level or work one-on-one with a private tutor through our Da Vinci programme (more on this below).

It’s a flexible approach that supports both confidence and academic progress.

Class Recordings

A major advantage of CGA’s online format is full access to recordings of every class. These recordings:

  • Are available all year long.
  • Include searchable topic tags.
  • Feature AI-generated “Key Notes” from our assistant, Winston.

Students describe these as the “ultimate revision tool” - perfect for rewatching lessons, catching up after absences, or preparing for assessments.

Homework Support & Drop-In Tutorials

Ongoing academic help is readily available outside of class. Students benefit from:

  • A Study Group Club led by the Academic Prefect Team.
  • Peer-to-peer learning sessions and revision resources.
  • Weekly or fortnightly subject-specific drop-ins run by teachers for extra help.
  • A Homework Club, hosted by CGA Principal Mark Phillips, to support time management and assignment planning.

Whether students are looking for extra practice or need help catching up, support is always available.

Supplementary Tutoring with Da Vinci

For students who need more targeted help, CGA offers additional private classes through our Da Vinci programme. Da Vinci teachers have access to the same resources and lesson plans and often work in coordination with the group class teachers to ensure all gaps are covered.

Exam Preparation

CGA helps students build exam confidence from the start. Teachers:

  • Introduce key exam words early on.
  • Teach how to approach various question types.
  • Integrate past exam questions into lessons and homework.

Internal Assessments follow the same format as external exams, giving students real, practical experience. As exams approach, students receive tailored:

  • Revision lists.
  • Study guides.
  • Practice questions and past papers for timed practice.

Reports & Teacher Communication

Parents are kept informed every step of the way. CGA provides:

  • A mid-year progress report and an end-of-year academic report with detailed comments
  • Grades for class participation, homework completion, and overall performance
  • Regular Parent-Teacher meetings

The CGA Parent Portal offers real-time visibility into attendance, upcoming assignments, timetables, and teacher contact details - ensuring any issues can be addressed early.

Additional Academic Support

CGA supports the whole student - not just their academics. Our wider academic care team includes:

  • An Inclusion Manager, who can create Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) and apply for exam accommodations.
  • Head of House, University Counsellors, and Admissions Officers, who advise on subject selection, study habits, and future pathways.

Developing Study Skills

Good grades come from good habits. That’s why CGA focuses on developing effective study and revision strategies through:

  • Weekly form time focused on organisation and goal-setting.
  • Exam-focused assemblies on time management and revision techniques.
  • Access to private Personal Education Coaches (PECs) through the Da Vinci programme who work with students of all ages to build consistent study routines.

At CGA, every student has the tools, structure, and personalised support to succeed - not just in school, but far beyond it.
