International A-levels

What is International A Level?

The International A Levels are the most commonly studied curriculum around the world. They are based on the UK high school education system and are adapted for a global student base.

In Year 12 students move on to the A Levels that are further broken down into two parts: the AS Level, called “Advanced Subsidiary”, (usually done in Year 12) and A2 Level (typically done in Year 13). Traditionally, students take 4-5 AS Level subjects and then go on to take 3-4 of those subjects at the A2 Level.

The International GCSE classes course is suitable for students 16-18 years old. In some countries students divide studies over two years.

The A Level courses can be taken as a full-time or part-time option along with other subjects. Students can also take a combination of levels at CGA.

AS Level and A Level: 2 units of two hours and 50 marks each External assessment offered three times a year for each of the six units

Basis of what you will learn in A Level History

In the focus on depth, students will look at the history of one country in detail over a short period of time; in the breadth approach, students will study the history of one country through four key topic areas over an extended time scale and for the interpretations of event in history, students will look at development of international relations over a broad historical period. Students will develop their interest in and enthusiasm for history and an understanding of its intrinsic value and significance.
