Amelia graduated from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Economics and minoring in Geography) and a Master in Teaching and Learning (endorsed in secondary education). She was on the Economics Honors Roll and the Business School Dean's list at Otago University and gained a distinction in her Master's degree.
