Why I joined CGA

I love working with the best and brightest students and the freedom the online platform provides me. How cool is it to throw a laptop in a suitcase and be able to teach from anywhere.  It really is a dream come true.

Q & A with Mr Kirker

Q: What is your philosophy or approach to education?

A: Education should promote critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills, rather than just rote memorization.

Q: How do you get your students to engage?

A: Make it relevant: I try to show students how the material relates to their lives and the world around them. I use real-life examples and current events to make the subject matter more meaningful.  Once you really understand economics, you never look at the world the same.  It's a different lens or angle to look at our surroundings.

Q: What would you say are the main differences between CGA and a brick-and-mortar school?

A: Less bureaucratic nonsense at CGA, a more efficient platform/delivery system, and the constant pursuit of new technologies make CGA a great place to teach.

Q: What is your most memorable moment at CGA?

A: Any time the students finally fully understand a complex model or concept.  Seeing the light go on and watching it “click” is very rewarding.

Top Tip for Exam Preparation

Work on as many problems as you can.  Both free response and MC questions.  Practice, practice and practice until you can do them in your sleep.

In my free time…

I live in Mexico so I do a lot of surfing, mountain biking and exploring all the beautiful beaches, colonial cities and friendly towns in this amazing country.  I love learning about architecture, history and trying all the delicious, regional foods that are offered.
